Author: Yerger
Published by: R. James Bender Publishing
Among the most sought after and desired awards by collectors, the actual recipients of the German Cross in Silver have never been examined in detail. Now, for the first time, full biographical data and unpublished photo material is available for the SS and Police holders of this elusive award. The award itself is in full color, its recommendation process, and actual award documents are also included. Adding significantly to the biographical information are details of the unit assignments, posts and commands of the recipients. With the SS and Police remaining among the most sought-after information topics by both historians and collectors, this volume fills a significant void in the study of the Third Reich

NZ$ 65.00 each
Paperback
Author: Greg VanWyngarden
Published by: Osprey
By August 1916, the German Air Service was fighting a losing struggle in the skies over the Battle of the Somme. In response, an entirely new type of fighting formation came into being -the Jagdstaffel, a unit designed solely as a fighting squadron. One of the most famous was Jasta 2, formed and led by Germany's premiere fighter ace Oswald Boelcke. Renamed Jasta 'Boelcke', the unit would carry its first commander's legacy to spectacular success in late 1918. This title examines the tactics, personalities and achievements of this ace squadron which finished the war with an immense 336 victories, second only to Richthofen's own unit in confirmed kills.

Medieval Siege Warfare order quantity

NZ$ 65.00 each
Paperback
Author: John Norris
Published by: Sutton Publishing Ltd
The defense of walled cities and towns, and the siege techniques for overcoming their defenses, were a major part of medieval warfare. John Norris looks at all aspects of the medieval siege and draws examples from all over the medieval world - from the Middle East, where during the Crusades massive castles such as Krak Chevalier were established, to Britain and mainland Europe, with historic sieges such as Rouen and Chalus, where King Richard I of England was killed.
In addition to explaining the technical complexities of siege warfare, the author paints a graphic picture of the life of those involved in siege warfare, attackers and defenders alike.

The Indochina War, 1946-54 order quantity

Paperback
Author: Martin Windrow
Published by: Osprey
The states of Indochina had been French colonies or protectorates since the 19th century. However, in March 1945 the Japanese interned all French troops and officials, and turned over all civil government to local authorities. The power vacuum caused by the Japanese surrender allowed the Viet Minh, a strong revolutionary organisation, to be established throughout Vietnam. When the French returned to the north, incidents between French and VM troops were inevitable, negotiations collapsed and the French opted for a military solution. This book examines the history of the conflict and the forces of both sides.

Ancient Greek Fortifications 500-330 BC order quantity

NZ$ 44.00 each
Paperback
Author: Nic Fields
Published by: Osprey
The development of the city-state in the Classical period of Greek history ensured a shift in the nature of fortifications in the region. No longer were fortresses designed to defend a ruler and his entourage, rather the whole of the citizen body had to be protected against any outside threats. The enceintes of these Greek city-states did not have to be very high or strong as city-state conflict was still decided by spear and shield, though some thought was still given to the science of fortification. This book details the construction and ongoing development of the defences that protected some of the most illustrious sites in Greece during the most famous period of her history.
